Hi, I'm Viya

I was born in a small city in Shandong, China, and moved to San Francisco when I was 22 to pursue my master's degree. Since then, I’ve worked for a few startups, traveled around the world, and eventually made Montreal, Canada my new home.

I was the first in my family to study abroad, and I chose to stay without my parent’s support. With my education in both accounting and entrepreneurship, I started working for a boutique consulting firm as a startup accountant/consultant. There, I interviewed founders, understood their needs, and designed solutions to streamline their accounting & operation.

Fast forward to today, as a UX Researcher and Designer, I’m interviewing stakeholders & users, understanding their needs, and designing solutions to improve their lives with digital products.

Currently, I'm combining the best of both worlds, bringing strategy and outcome to UX and product.
